The NSDA aims to enhance an individual’s employability by certifying completeness with skills. The importance of skill-based training in socio-economic development of the country is immense. Demand oriented skill training is an important area for productivity enhancement, employment generation and poverty alleviation. Skill development training institutes established at the government and private levels in Bangladesh are providing skill development training commercially. It is important to have uniform training curriculum based on occupation to improve and harmonize the overall quality of training conducted in all these training institutes. NSDA, under the mandate conferred by the National Skill Development Authority Act, 2018, is formulating uniform curriculum for training programs conducted across the country in various occupations/trades.

A Competency - Based Curriculum (CBC) is a framework or guide for the subsequent detailed development of competencies, associated methodologies, training and assessment resources. The CBC specifies the outcomes which are consistent with the requirements of the workplace as agreed through the industry and community consultations. It contains specifications of the course a trainee will undertake to attain workplace competencies. The Competency Based Curriculum is an official document that describes the content of a particular programme which is developed based on the national competency standards accepted by the industry.
